Presently, Qadosh: The Johannite Tradition is being offered in the Internet Edition Version 4.2. Part Five of Qadosh: The Johannite Tradition is in progress. This is called La Voie Lactée (The Milky Way): The Way of the Stars. The present offering includes a survey of some of the early accounts of the Nusairi and related sects of Northern Syria[sorry folks, coming in January], as well as a piece of armchair "Cabala" on certain names we find in the Nusairi literature. These include The Prince of Bees, the three mysterious letters, the term Nozrei.

It is interesting seeing how this sect has always existed for at least 2,000 years, pretty much under the same circumstances. It is also interesting to see that some researchers, including Rene Dussaud, have labored to cover-up or correct early accounts that appear to give away the secret. From the time the Assassins moved into the area, and colonized the Gebel Ansariyah the two sects have been confused. Yet they were in the same region in the days of Pliny. We read that they teamed up with the Crusaders, during the First Crusade to fight the Moslems. We read that they were known as Uannini. We read different takes on their branch of Islam: Seveners, Twelvers, Isma'ilis, Assassins. We would like to see the territory for ourselves!

At any rate in January we shall present some of the early accounts, in Pre-Christian, early Christian, Crusade-era and post-Crusade(i.e., 1700-1900) varieties. Really the material we have seen from 1901 onwards offers us little to go by, with the exception of Walter Birks' narrative, which is what first gave us a clue as to their significance on the stage of history.

Also, we were studying different names associated with the Nusairi religion: Emir ha Nahel, or the Prince of Bees; the Three Mysterious Letters (Ain - Mim - Sin), and the word Nozrei itself, and we found some interesting concepts, using the 'Armchair Cabala' method. Interesting concepts that connect with the idea we are pursuing throughout our work.

We've been publishing Qadosh: the Johannite Tradition online for five years come 17 January 2000 c.e., and hopefully by summer it will be finished.

"It is clear that by the time of his triumphal entry into Jerusalem Jesus had recruited a following. But this following would have been composed of two quite distinct elements ~~~ whose interests were not precisely the same. On the one hand, there would have been a small nucleus of 'initiates' ~~ immediate family, other members of the nobility, wealthy and influential supporters, whose primary objective was to see their candidate installed on the throne. On the other hand, there would have been a much larger entourage of 'common people' ~~ the 'rank and file' of the movement, whose primary objective was to see the message, and the promise it contained, fulfilled. It is important to recognize the distinction between these two factions. Their political objective ~~ to establish Jesus on the throne ~~ would have been the same. But their motivations would have been essentially different.

"When the enterprise failed, as it obviously did, the uneasy alliance between these two factions ~~ 'adherents of the message' and adherents of the family ~~ would seem to have collapsed. Confronted by debacle and the threat of imminent annihilation, the family would have placed a priority on the single factor that, from time immemorial, has been of paramount importance to noble and royal families ~~ preservation of the bloodline at all costs, if necessary in exile. For the 'adherents of the message,' however, the family's future would have been of secondary consequence. Their primary objective would have been perpetuation and dissemination of the message.
