"All good things, O Clea, it behoves persons that have sense to solicit from the gods. But more especially now that we are in the quest of the knowledge of themselves (so far as such knowledge is attainable by man), do we pray to obtain the same from them with their own consent: inasmuch as there is nothing more important for a man to receive, or more noble for a god to grant, than TRUTH."

"Nothing is true, everything is permitted." -- Hassan - ibn - Sabah.
"There is no religion higher than truth." -- Madame Blavatsky.
"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
-- Georges Santayana.

ROSE-CROIX: THE GIFT.
INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET EDITION.
This is Internet Edition version 1.6. We had originally planned on offering it as text only format, but we decided to issue some of its parts online.
Authors usually issue the earlier material first. We chose to create the Second Book first, namely the Qadosh section. Now we bring elements of the first part out, and make them available. The First Book, Legacy deals with our motives for embarking on this Quest, and with the factors that played a large part in getting us started, investigating this material. Also, we set forth our general thesis in the First Book, and follow it up in the Second Book with a historical survey of the traditions covered.
We shall be adding to this work periodically, and we shall be preparing other materials as well which have a bearing on the subjects covered here.
We hope that this, the First Book of The Brethren of the GIFT, is as interesting to those who have enjoyed Book Two.
We have made use of certain fonts which must be installed on the user's machine, in order for certain items to be readable. Otherwise it will appear as if we have included gibberish, which is not the case. Users must have the Scholastic Press fonts, SPIonic and SPTiberian; the font entitled Mortbats; the font entitled Woolbats; the font entitled Christian Crosses; the font entitled "Peace" for the Titles, and the entire work was composed in Goudy Old Style BT, which is far better than Times New Roman.
Enjoy!
